In 2022, the Eastern and Southern Africa region (ESAR) grappled with a series of crises. The Horn of Africa drought, a result of extreme climate conditions, impacted 36.3 million people, including 20.2 million children, pushing countries in the area to the edge of famine. The region experienced relentless and increasingly severe droughts, floods, and cyclones, leading to a surge in humanitarian needs. Additionally, there were widespread outbreaks of diseases such as cholera, Ebola, measles, polio, and yellow fever in multiple countries, further straining public healthcare systems. Political instability persisted in various parts of the region, marked by conflict zones, civil unrest, and activities of Non-State Armed Groups. These cascading crises severely hindered progress, particularly affecting the 265 million children in the region who were already grappling with multidimensional poverty.
The West and Central Africa Region (WCAR) has also encountered numerous challenges. The region is currently grappling with significant challenges due to public health crises, inflation, and the ongoing impacts of climate change. These factors have posed formidable obstacles to maintaining previous achievements and advancing progress. FPCC IN AFRICA
The FPCC model incorporates three main components:
Faith-centered research and mapping to ensure evidence-based and contextually-appropriate approaches.
Experiential training of FPCC facilitators to ensure interactive and reflective Mind-Heart Dialogue approaches to address issues affecting children.
Establishment of sustainable inter-faith coordination and partnership mechanisms for on-going planning, implementation and oversight.

In Africa, the Faith and Positive Change for Children, Families and Communities Initiative (FPCC) is currently being implemented in 12 countries divided into two regions namely West and Central Africa Region (WCAR) and East and Southern Africa Region (ESARO).
