Mozambique is a very pluralistic Country in terms of Religion and the various Religions in the Country live harmoniously in peace side by side with each other. There are several initiatives that brings different religious together. Religious denominations are involved in peace building and as observer during political elections.

Social and Behavior Change Expected: 

  • By 2020, improved skills of parents and young people on key issues such as: Breastfeeding, handwashing and water treatment

  • Promote household use of adequate water treatment methods

  • Promote treated net use for children under 5

  • Promote at least 4 Pre-natal doctor visits

  • Improve immunization rate for children under 2

  • Address social norms and cultural practices such as child marriage and attitudes around breastfeeding that hamper the adoption of key selected life saving, care and protective behaviours addressed in Zambezia and Nampula Provinces by 2020.

  • Promote religious leaders in Zambezia and Nampula provinces to publicly denounce child marriage, sign a declaration and be engaged in promotion of Health, Education and Child Protection.
