Addressing the pushback on the Abandonment of Harmful Practices: In-country narratives and faith engagement approaches

UNICEF’s Prevention of Harmful Practices (Child Protection) and Social and Behavior Change teams organized a high-level launch event of a desk review that focused on effective faith engagement strategies on the pushback to the child rights agenda. The launch will showcase findings of the research series; the accompanying practical guidance and faith engagement tools co-developed with partners highlighted the role of faith actors in countering pushback against child rights and debate future action.


UNICEF Child Protection and Social and Behavior Change teams, in collaboration with Samuel Hall, conducted a 15-country scoping study under the Joint Programme on the Elimination of Female Genital Mutilation | UNICEF to map pushback efforts against ending harmful practices, with particular attention to the role of faith actors.
